Winds of Faith

Down to The River
Last Sunday, I decided to visit my old home church, as they were going to have an old-fashioned river baptism. Two pm was the meeting time in the church parking lot. I arrived early and was blessed to see the business of God's people getting ready to go down to the river. A couple came by with just married still written on the window of their car and asked would you give these keys to the pastor. They are for the church; it's all cleaned up from yesterday’s wedding.
Soon, the pastor roared up in his old farm side-by-side with his flip flops on and the phone to his ear. The gate key won’t work and he roars back down the road to locate the farmer who has another key. A wedding one day, sermon the next morning, baptism after dinner, keys won’t work, time running out. A

busy man! (I prayed for him)
By and by, the parking lot filled up and cars swung around ready to go. Soon the pastor returned, farmer found, gate opened, and all headed to the river. As they left, I thought of on old baptism song and the

words written by John the Revelator in Rev 22.

And he showed me a pure river of the water of life, clear as a crystal, proceeding from the throne of God & the Lamb. In the middle of it's street, and on either side of the river was the tree of life.
O how wonderful for those that day and many of us to have found our way to that river and been baptized in it’s water to repentance and raised with the Holy Spirit and with fire. amen

(a humming song for the day) As I went down to the river to pray; studying about that good old way and who shall wear a robe and crown. Good God show me the way. O brothers lets go down, come on down, down to the river to pray.
