Car Show and Burnout Night, Another Successful Event in Paris

 The Paris 2nd Annual Car Show and Burnout Night was held May 9, and this year organizers added a car show to the festivities at the Monroe County Courthouse. Event goers were also able to enjoy several food trucks located north of the courthouse, including The Munchbox, Bulldog Bites Lemonade & Hot Dog Stand, and One In a Slice. 

Main Street directly in front of the courthouse was shut down by MoDOT from Monroe Street to Marion Street for the car show. East Monroe and East Marion streets were also closed to through traffic to help ensure the safety of those attending. Cars lined both sides of the streets as participants and spectators filled downtown Paris throughout the evening. 

Car Show Classes Announced 

Organizers were excited to add the car show to this year’s Burnout Night festivities, featuring several competition classes and winners: 

Curt Wheeler said, “This year trophies were homemade with car parts. We were in hopes of those winners actually want to display these instead of them ending up in a closet somewhere.” Each trophy was unique and heavy, making them memorable keepsakes for the winners.
 
Brandi Wheeler shared, “We had a wonderful turnout to our 2nd annual car show and burnout night, minus the rain! We had 108 entries for the car show. We can’t wait to make it even bigger and better next year, thank you to all who showed up and showed out!”
 
The burnout competition began after the car show winners were announced and drew a very large crowd. The evening was filled with excitement and entertainment until a thunderstorm eventually rolled into the area.
