Fun at the Monroe County Fair

June 26, 2025

The last few years, we have incorporated a `theme' for the fair. It can be seen on the banners that kids win and sometimes on the backs of the fairboard members, and the TShirts the kids wear at the sale. Until recently we always did basic farm themes. Last year, our Hawaiian themed fair was such a hit, we were inspired to think up a new one. This wasn't a very big task for one Ashley Kendrick, wife of fairboard President Jared, a fair board member and the one BIG Christmas fan. That being said, this year's theme is `Christmas in July'
So look for Christmas lights strung around the barn, maybe even Christmas carols playing over the speakers and much more. While its too hot in Missouri in July to consider an Ugly Sweater contest, we will however being awarding Candy Canes to all who we see wearing Christmas T-shirts, socks, hats, earrings and more. So, dig out your warm weather Christmas stuff and come to the fair.
Traditionally at Christmas, many people consider it the season of giving to participate in charitable endeavors. And we plan to be those people at the fair, with a competition sort of twist. We have a wish list from the Senior Center of items that they need. Every kid who brings donations, will be entered to win Sullivans Show Box and Species specific prizes. So bring your charitable hearts to the fair!
As we are doing the final preparations towards the fair, we are starting to get in some fun Christmas themed prizes, there are Santa Windsocks for Oldtimers Showmanship winners, several winners will receive Christmas ornaments and so much more. Please join us a the fair where it'll be the most wonderful time of the year.
There is a full schedule of events from the Horse Show on Sunday, July 13 till the Movie Night at the Park sponsored by Regional Bank on Friday evening, July 18.
