General Mills to Expand In Hannibal, Creating More Than 35 New Jobs
November 21, 2024
General Mills, a leading global food manufacturer, announced today that it will expand its manufacturing facility in Hannibal, creating more than 35 new jobs. The expansion includes adding an Old El Paso hard-shell taco production line, increasing square footage, and improving infrastructure.
"General Mills' expansion in Hannibal is another example of our state's status as a prime destination for world-class manufacturers," said Governor Mike Parson. "This company's more than 50-year presence in northeast Missouri speaks to the region's ability to support quality employers and drive economic growth.
General Mills' manufacturing facility in Hannibal produces food products across multiple categories and brands, including Nature Valley, Betty Crocker, Old El Paso, and Progresso. The company's Hannibal location has been in operation since 1972 and has undergone multiple expansions to now employ more than 1,000 people.
"Hannibal is a key manufacturing facility for General Mills and this latest investment will enable us to expand our footprint and grow our plant community," said Tim Johnson, General Mills Plant Manager. "We are extremely proud of our contributions to the local community and look forward to what the future has in store."
"DED is pleased to support General Mills as it continues to grow and help Missourians prosper in Hannibal," said Michelle Hataway, Director of the Department of Economic Development. "We're thrilled that General Mills is continuing to thrive and create good-paying jobs for Missourians and their families."
New jobs added as part of General Mills' expansion will pay an average wage well above the county average.
For this expansion, General Mills will benefit from the Missouri Works program, a tool that helps companies expand and retain workers by providing access to capital through withholdings or tax credits for job creation. The company may receive assistance from Missouri One Start, a division of the Department of Economic Development. Missouri One Start assists eligible businesses with their recruitment and training needs.
