Lake Sturgeon Relative to The Salt River/Re-Regulation Dam Pubic Meeting

April 15, 2023

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake invites everyone to the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center on April 20, 2023, at 6:00 pm for a public meeting to discuss lake sturgeon relative to the Salt River/re-regulation dam.

A partnering effort is being held between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Missouri Department of Conservation, and Southwestern Power Administration to discuss potential water flows for lake sturgeon during their annual spawn. This public meeting will discuss the results of completed data and actual water flow testing below the re-regulation dam as a potential benefit to lake sturgeon, the limitations to these water flows, and any other anticipated effects.

The St. Louis District is responsible for maintaining the waterways that flow through a large part of Eastern Missouri and southwestern Illinois.

Located within the District's boundaries are 300 miles of the Mississippi River, including its four most southerly Lock and Dams and its confluence with the Missouri and Illinois River. Also included are several tributary rivers, dozens of other small streams, and five multi-purpose reservoirs - Lake Shelbyville, Carlyle Lake, Rend Lake, Mark Twain Lake, and Lake Wappapello.

We look forward to seeing you here at Mark Twain Lake, and do not forget to wear your life jacket when on or near the water! The M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center is located on Rt. J just south of the Clarence Cannon Dam. If you would like more information, please feel free to email marktwaininfo@usace.army.mil or call 573-735-4097.
