Two Year Anniversary Since Our Merge

May 30, 2022

By Robin Gregg

Great things came to the Monroe and Ralls County communities two years ago! In order to continue to serve our subscribers, the Ralls County Herald Enterprise was merged with the Monroe County Appeal. This meant an increased size reach range for subscribers as well as doubling marketing options for businesses.
During these times, each day gets harder and harder on small-town newspapers. Ralls County Herald-Enterprise was one who had been affected. In the hopes of saving their paper and ours; community history; recent activities and event coverage; Lewis County Press decided to merge RCHE with the MCA as of June 1, 2020. We understand many of you may not like this merge, but it was either the merge, or lose both papers completely. Without your support, it can still happen!!

Since 2020, a lot of things has changed, including going from seven employees to only one for both counties. COVID hit us and our way of coverage very hard. If you call our office, you will be answered by our corporate office in Tennessee as well as receive subscription renewals and monthly bills from Tennessee. I am in touch with our corporate office daily, so anything that I need to follow up on, I will be made aware of. Our graphic department is based out of Illinois as well as our printer. I am the only local person to represent MCA and RCHE. There for, our Paris office hours have been adjusted to the following: Monday 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.; Tuesday 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.; Wednesday 9:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. with Thursday and Friday closed. Appointments can be made with me outside of these hours if necessary.
I understand Monroe believes there is too much Ralls news and vice versa. I try my best to balance both, some weeks are harder than others. I’m always open to any articles and/or photos to be shared with me to publish if you’ve covered an event you would like to share. Please email that to robingregg@monroecountyappeal.com

Make sure to check out our website www.monroe-ralls.com and follow both of our Facebook pages.

We’re excited to bring you the best coverage of everything going on in Ralls and Monroe Counties for years to come.
