LOVE THY NEIGHBOR FUND LAUNCHED
Hannibal, Mo. – Individuals without heat or those without a home are facing tough
situations this weekend with temperatures below zero.
The Tri-County Alliance, a special project of the United Way of the Mark Twain Area,
launched its “Love Thy Neighbor” fund on Friday, February 12. Dollars donated to the
fund will be utilized to help shelter individuals in the community facing homeless
situations or those who do not have heat in their homes.
Currently in Hannibal there is no homeless shelter or any space that is open over night
as a warming center. Many community organizations have exhausted their funding that
helps pay for temporary stays in hotels.
Dollars in the Love They Neighbor fund will be utilized by the Tri-County Alliance during
inclement weather to keep individuals in a warm and safe space.
To donate to the fund individuals can visit http://unitedwaymta.org and select “Love Thy
Neighbor” as the campaign they would like to support. Individuals can also send
payment to Tri-County Alliance at PO Box 81, Hannibal, Mo 63401 with “Love Thy
Neighbor” in the memo.
If individuals know of those facing homeless situations or are in a home with no heat,
they are encouraged to reach out to United Way at 573-221-2761.
