Paris R-II Coyote Senior Zane Lockhart signed his Letter of Intent to participate in track with the University of Missouri- Kansas City on Friday, Feb. 7, at the Paris R-II High School. The All-State Track PHS star and school record holder in the long jump and triple jump will participate in Division I track at UMKC.

“It means a lot to me to be able to go to the University of Missouri – Kansas City,” said Zane. “I really didn’t get into track until junior high and for me to progress this much and to be able to get this opportunity means a lot to me.”

“I hate that he is going away to college,” said Mom Dawn Ragsdale. “I am very proud of him. He always competed with Cole (his brother, also a Paris R-II track standout) and that completion helped him find his niche and we are so very proud of him.”

“It has been fun watching him grow over the years and develop,” said Dad Todd Lockhart. “And watching him do a lot of this on his own through camps, You Tube and the Internet. It has been fun watching him through his high school career.”

Zane is the first Coyote to go to a Division I school on an athletic scholarship since possibly the early 80′s, according to Paris R-II Secondary Principal Chris Willingham.
