The Paris R-II School District and the sports booster club held their annual Fall Sports Banquet on Thursday, Nov. 14 in the high school gymnasium.
Booster Club President Erin Gruber welcomed everyone to the night’s program and thanked numerous individuals who help make the sports program such a huge success including but not limited to the athletes themselves, coaches, parents and grandparents, administration, bus drivers, JC Statuary for the coyotes now gracing the front gates to the Warbritton Field, Rick and Karen Hammond, Mary Stone, Mary DeOrnellis, Jamie Ebbesmeyer and Barb and Denny Nobis (for the wonderful meal).
Athletic Director Wade Billington thanked the sports booster club for all they do for the sports program and then gave the invocation.
Coach Jeremy Skinner presented the 2013 Paris Coyote Lady Coyotes Golf team including members Rachel Batsell, Courtney Dickey, Brooke Rentschler, Abagail Robertson, Audrey Vitt and Sabrina Wright.
“We need to thank the parents and the golf association,” said Coach Skinner. “Without them we would not have golf.
“Our record was so-so but these girls have only been playing golf about four months,” said Skinner. “I am expecting big things from these girls next year.

Coach Mike Fible presented the 2013 Lady Coyote Softball Team including Abbie Wheelan, Makenzie Fox, Brooke Hunt, Jill Nobis, Kaylee Callison, Rae Graupman, Britany Williams, Rachel Blades, Jessica Staples, Carmyn Holmes, Taylor Redman, Betsy Embree, Josey Ball, Allison Jett, Alex Dreckshage and Hannah Bartels.
“We beat Madison, Fayette and Marion County to wrap up the season,” said Coach Fible.
Coach Foible thanked numerous people for all their help for the season especially Cy Fields for his valuable help with the fields and Dea Nobis for keeping score.

Coach Kim Skinner introduced the 2013 Paris Coyote Cheerleaders including Josey Ball, Riley Barton, Gloria Breid, Kaylee Brown, Kaylee Callison, Eva Charlick, Taylor Dye, Betsy Embree, Rae Graupman, Katie Otto, Chrisee Wheeler, Dakota Van Winkle, Britany Williams and Mieko Williams.
“All the cheerleaders worked very hard this year,” said Cheerleading Coach Kim Skinner.
Coach Skinner thanked the cheerleaders for their hard work, the parents for their help and her husband for his support.
Coach Gary Crusha introduced the 2013 Paris Coyote Football Team including Slater Stone, Kyle Popkes, Jon Turner, Jacob Pease, Laine Forrest, Jacob Wolfe, Jacob Green, Brendon Hancock, Nathan Hancock, Tucker Gruber, Trenton Brandl, Kody Crider, Luke Day, Zac Baladenski, Shelby Powell, Austin Coffman, Briar Hancock, August Hayhurst, Brody Lehenbauer, Shane Umstattd, David DeOrnellis, Dylan Langerud, Kole Berrey, Alan Haynes, Dacota French and Anthony Farran.
Coach Crusha thanked numerous individuals including the whole Ensor family for their help with statistics and Robert Ensor for his dedicated work on the field. Coach Crush thanked James and Christine Dietrich for their coyote donations for the front gates; thanked Coach Quentin Forrest for all his help as assistant coach; thanked the coaches who worked in the box including Brant Long, Wade Billington, Doug Turner, Mike Fible and scout Jason Rinz.
Coach Crusha congratulated Quarterback Kyle Popkes and receiver Slater Stone on their record-breaking year. Popkes tied a school record in touchdown passes for the season (33); Stone set a new school record in receiving yards (1,192); Popkes had 465 yards passing versus Louisiana; and Stone had a record 267 yards receiving in the same game.
Coach Crusha presented a football letter to Manger Brooke Rentschler.
“This was one of my most satisfying seasons as a coach,” said Coach Crusha. “Hopefully we will build upon this season. Winning is fun and can be contagious.”
